Natural Beauty Recipe of the Week! Oatmeal Honey Mask

February 23, 2010 — Leave a comment

Lets face it ladies, God made us beautiful! I want to begin posting tips for some natural and inexpensive recipes for making DIY beauty products. I would like to encourage women that while it is okay to still care about looking good, its not always necessary to be breaking the bank over commercial beauty products. As women, we are charged more for body-care products than men are, so we need to be smart about where our money is going, as well as the ingredients in a lot of these products.

Looking your best while on a budget = Good. Not being able to make rent because you bought a $230 jar of Creme de la Mer = tomfoolery.

It’s a recession here in the U.S., so trips to Sephora aren’t as wallet friendly nowadays. Lately, I enjoy making DIY recipes. I am a believer in 1) Saving Money; 2) Saving Mon– er, using natural ingredients; 3) Having fabulous skin and hair; 4) Being creative!

First up, a face mask. I personally have tried this recipe, and I quite like it. Honey is a natural humectant (moisture retainer), and oats act as mild exfoliating particles that also help to soothe dry, sensitive skin. This recipe I found is great for winter weather.

Yogurt/Honey Mask

  • 1 teaspoon of Plain Yogurt

    Slow Like Honey...

  • 2 Teaspoons of Honey
  • Couple of drops of green tea
  • Mashed up Oats, as desired.

Mix all ingredients together, then apply to the face and neck and leave on for 15-20 mins.  Rinse off with warm water. I try to use this recipe 2-3 a week. Try it and let me know what you think!
